Robert David Durish born 1947 near Binghamton, New York, a landlocked countrylad whose earliest memory recalls that painting, carving and design occupied his life. At the age of eight he salvaged and rebuilt a rowboat to 'go to sea' on a boggy cowpond, never to return to normal again.

After a two year stint at college for advertising, design and art, he developed a healthy disdain for schools and began work with C. A. Parshall Advertising in New York City. On weekends David studied art in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim and Munsen Williams, Proctor Institute and then turned to architectural rendering.

After years of mentoring under architect, Norman J. Davies, David moved to Toronto and established Rendur Inc. Architectural Art. Working 40 years and in eleven different countries, he then came full circle, semi-retired and turned to painting the fun of messing around in boats.

After designing and rigging canoes to sail on the lakes for 28 years, his love for old, small wooden yachts and working boats has lead to this, his first ever exhibition.

Mr Durish was invited to exhibit some of his works at the Canadian Society of Marine Artist's Annual Exhibition in 2007.
