Reflections on Reflections
Opened 4-7pm Thursday 17 September 2009, exhibition ran to 5 October 2009
The exhibition Reflections opened at The Victory, 205 Main Street, Picton on the 17th of September and ran through the 5th October, highlighting the harbour of Picton in the majority of the twenty four canvases by artist Stefan Starenkyj a member of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists.
Stefan's paintings transform the everyday view of Picton harbour into a multi faceted, multi dimensional scene where hulls reflect beside the waterlilies or the red of the tugboat becomes a geometric abstract or the subtlety of the soft summer sky warms on the calm surface of the water. A new perspective of looking at the harbour excited the visitors, some of who encouraged the artist to create paintings of other habours and coves in Prince Edward County. This exhibition remained open until 5th October, daily from 10 – 6, and admission was free.
