During the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, The Victory hosted an exhibition of "War of 1812" art with many pieces by the members of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists. This was to complement the Canadian Nautical Research Society conference The War of 1812: Differing Perspectives. The conference included papers that addressed nautical, political, ethnological and related themes treating the causes, events and outcomes surrounding the events of 1812-1814; a very broad approach was taken including geographical perspectives from Europe and both sides of the North American participation.

The Canadian Society of Marine Artists protrayed some of the naval actions of the War of 1812. The scenes and the ships in these paintings were researched for accuracy of the period by the artists. These works complement the displays and prints which highlight the history of the period for this exhibition and show the artists' unique talents. Peter Rindlisbacher, CSMA, made a extensive presentation on the war of 1812.

Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, this Canadian Nautical Research Society conference was hosted at The Victory in Picton.

The Victory gallery is open daily from 10 to 6 pm and admission is free.
