Ray Warren was born in Vancouver B.C. and his art was inspired by his interest in the maritime shipping scene at a young age. Warren graduated from the Vancouver School of Art in commercial design in 1967.
Warren began doing commercial art in 1978 and his connection to David Lam inspired him to use Chinese brushes and rice paper in his work. Warren's interest in art has led him to travels to countries such as Japan and Australia. Warren was elected into the CSMA in 1983.
