Donation of a Harry Heine watercolour
The Society is honoured to have received an original watercolour by one of the founders of the CSMA, Harry Heine.
The donation was made on behalf of Charles Smith, FRSA, as a tribute to his memory by the family. Mr Smith of Kent, in the UK, was a noted artist himself.
The painting is of Vancouver Harbour on a very foggy day. With the docks and ship in the background and the tug pulling the barge is the focal point.
The unveiling of the painting which is now on display in the permanent collection of the CSMA, took place September 11, 2003 in the presence of members, guests and the press. The artist himself, Mr Harry Heine CSMA, RSMA, joined us by teleconference from British Columbia.
Mr Heine holds the distinction of being the first Canadian elected to the Royal Society of Marine Artists. It was a very special event.
