Special Event - History of War Art Programmes

The Canadian Society of Marine Artists is holding a special event for lovers of art and history to be held at the Prince Edward Yacht Club, April 2nd at 2:00 pm. Admission is free.

The artist, John M. Horton FCA, CSMA one of the founding members of the Society and its first President will present "History of Canadian War Art Programmes -- How to be a Canadian War Artist" a power point presentation. We are very fortunate to have this unique opportunity to hear this talk.

John, who resides in British Columbia, is one of Canda's foremost marine painters and has done an extensive series of historical paintings documenting Captain Vancouver on the West Coast of Canada. Currently, he is regularly invited to sail on Canadian naval vessels to document their activities; his most recent series "Operation Apollo" has been donated to the people of Canada and will possibly be hung in the War Museum in Ottawa.

The Canadian Society of Marine Artists is also proud to announce that John's painting, "Home from the Sea", recently sold and will stay in Canada. This major work immortalizes the historic scene in Saint John, New Brunswick, of the cod fishing vessels gathering at the end the nineteenth century and is part of the splendid heritage of our Country.
