25th Annual Exhibition – 2008
Silver Anniversary
Opened May the 2nd, 2008
The Silver Anniversary of the Society of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists, opened with a Gala evening, Friday, 2nd of May 2008. This very special evening featured new works by the CSMA artists with an opportunity for the guests to meet the artists including the founding President, several of whom came from the Pacific coast and the Maritimes. Their artwork was exhibited through 22nd of June at "The Victory", 205 Main Street, Picton. The hours of opening were 10am to 5pm daily (seven days a week).
A number of invitations were extended to prominent citizens, who, together with our member artists and our trustees, lead us to expect an attendance in excess of a hundred guests. We are delighted that the Honourable Lyle Vanclief accepted the role of Master of Ceremonies. He introduced the distinguished guests and coordinated the greetings and remarks. Dress was black tie, dress uniform or yacht club regalia. Champagne and hors d’oeuvres were served and a classical music ensemble complemented the ambiance.
Works by signature members and guest artists were exhibited. Those participating were Yves Berube, Mark Boden, Pat Burstall, Ken Deeley, Bo Hermanson, John M. Horton, Dusan Kadlec, Tony Lassing, Donald B. Macmillan, Alan Nakano, Peter Rindlisbacher, O. K. Schenk, John Vandenegel, Ray Warren and guest artists Lloyd Pretty and Stefan Starenkyj.
Artists portrayed new scenes in their artwork through the various mediums including watercolour, graphite, oil and acrylic. Our visitors enjoyed this new and exciting marine art show which marked our 25th anniversary.
